This monument isn’t within the confines of Veterans Grove proper, but at the opposite corner. This, the “Man on the Monument” faces east, paying homage to Gettysburg where many of our Civil War Veterans died.

Over 600 Bedford County men died during the Civil War. Four major campaigns involving Bedford County troops are listed around the monument. Cold Harbor, Antietam, Appomatix and Gettysburg.

The monument was buit in 1890, orginally placed in the intersection of Penn and Juliana St. Watch a video about the monument below.
